In May of 2001, Ken went to a convention in San Francisco for work. Fortunately I was able to tag along for a cheap vacation, only having to pay for my plane ticket and food.

We stayed at the Westin St. Francis, right across from Union Square, so it was the ideal location to explore downtown, Chinatown, or hop a trolley to Fisherman's Wharf. Not only that, but we got to experience Westin's Heavenly Beds - high quality mattresses, sheets, and down comfortors and pillows.

It was unusually hot when we were there (just my luck) so I didn't wander too much during the day, but it was nice and cool by the ocean. The day after we arrived, we drove up to see one of my coworkers from the regional office and she and her husband took us around the Sonoma valley, up the coast, to the redwoods, and over the mountains back home. It was a fabulous trip, and I totally fell in love with northern California.
