While attending Illinois Wesleyan University as a french major, I spend my junior year (1989-1990) in Nantes, France. I attended school through the Institute of European Studies. All classes were in french, taught by professors from the university. I also took one class at the university with other french students.

I was fortunate to be able to travel around afterwards for a month by train thanks to my wonderful parents!! Here are some photos of where I lived and places I visited.

This was where I lived in Nantes. It was a very nice 3-story place on a little impass with a beautiful small garden in back. The center of town was only a half hour walk which was fortunate as I could stay out late and not have to depend on catching a bus or tram to get home. My room was on the top floor on the right (little dormer window).

This is the street I lived on - Avenue Bascher.

This is one of the tramway lines in Nantes. When I was there, only one line from east to west existed. Now I think there are at least three lines which would've been very convenient. The big building in the background is the Médiathèque, a research library often used by students. The school I attended was in a street behind the Médiathèque.
