This is our local barbershop chorus at competition this year in Nashville. Hopefully the clip won’t be taken down.

The Heat is REALLY On

Thursday….

Yup, it’s summer. And tomorrow, the day I’ll be outside at the park from 9am - 4pm is supposed to be the hottest of the week. Thankfully I’ll be in a pavillion the majority of the time because I don’t want another burn! My back is all peeling and gross. Figures - a bad sunburn and I don’t even get the pleasure of peeling off those big pieces of skin. ;)

I had book club tonight to discuss Red Swastika at the Crystal Palace. Weirdest…book….ever. The person who recommended it said it was slapstick humor. We think she’s on crack because it really wasn’t very funny at all. The premise was - two Nazi war criminals running a brothel in the middle of the desert of New Mexico. One gets arrested and sent to Israel to stand trial. The wife brings in her Neo Nazi buddies to hold the prostitutes hostage to have him freed. When they realize no one cares about a bunch of tarts, they kidnap the nuns from the nearby convent. All of this is told from the perspective of a 16 year old albino boy whom the Nazi couple adopted to be their handyman and “other” things at the brothel.

This had the potential for humor, but I don’t think the author was talented enough to pull it off. The ending, while generally happy, sucked and was wrapped up so quickly that we figured the author got bored and just wanted to finish the book.

The gal who recommended it wasn’t able to make it tonight. We think she was too chicken to face us and hear what we thought of it.

Saturday…

Yep, it was hot and humid out yesterday. We had a nice time at the picnic, but unfortunately the softball game was called on account of storms only 15 minutes after it was supposed to start. :( I was glad to go home early as I had gotten a little overheated due to the high humidity but disappointed that we didn’t get to kick the other team’s bootay.

I did get to play bocce ball for the first time, and I loved it, though I know now never to play out at the park. Our balls got covered in goose poop. Yuck!!

A couple of people played the washers game I brought, but most were playing or watching the Baggo tournament. I wouldn’t mind having one of those, too, if I can find one priced reasonably. I had brought some board games and cards, but no one seemed interested in them. Oh well. :)

Yesterday evening I napped in the cool a/c while watching the Sox game off and on (more “off” after they were losing 7 to 1). My back had started itching like crazy and I couldn’t wait for Ken to get home to finish peeling off the rest of the dead stuff. My back got very sunburned at Knight’s Action Park, even after applying sunscreen twice. Thurs. night Ken overcame the gross factor and peeled off huge pieces of skin for me and then put more aloe on, so it’s feeling much better now. Still itchy, but better.

Speaking of Knight’s, we had a great time, and I had no trouble finding it. :) We floated around for about four hours before I had to leave as it took me close to 1.5 hours to get there. They had lots of water slides, one of which I tried. It was fun, but the mats were so narrow that to hold on to them I ended up bumping my wrists too much on the sides. I’d like to go back there with Ken sometime.

I’m going to get my hair trimmed today at noon, then I need to clean out the deep freeze and see what stuff needs to be cooked up before it sits in there too long. I can plug in both crock pots and make some yummy roasts overnight tonight that can be portioned out and frozen in baggies. Sure makes meals much easier to prepare, and it helps us not take too much at a time.

Guess I’m outtie for now - have a good weekend!

The Heat is On

Outside at least. Inside it’s nice and cool with the a/c at 72.

I’ve been invited to go to Knights Action Park on Saturday with Deb and Chandra. I’d need to be back no later than 4pm so I can shower and get ready to go out to Alexanders with Tony, Ginger & Company but I’m seriously contemplating it. I don’t know how to get there but Ken assures me it’s right off the interstate and I can’t miss it.

Famous last words.

But hey, I haven’t had a good sunburn in a long time, and the lazy river looks divine. :) Now, where did I put my UV protected goggles?

Tomorrow night a group of us is going to play bingo, and right afterwards an accoustic duo from Normal is playing so we’ll stay for that as well. Hopefully it won’t be too packed. I hate big crowds.

I hated to miss the Arthur fireworks last weekend. :( They have the best show around and I would’ve loved to hang out at Diane’s and to see their new rec room and puppy. Another time I guess. I didn’t know it was that night until the morning of, and I knew Ken was going to be too pooped to want to go anywhere. It’s hard when he has so little time off. :(

His Friday Night Magic group said they would be there this week, 4th or not, so Ken is keeping the store open. Last year we had NO customers, so if they don’t show up, I’ma gonna kick some Magic playing bootay next time I see them. I imagine I’ll stay home and keep the kitties from freaking out and perhaps set off some ground blooms out back.

Ken and I finally made it to the Verizon store and got our own plan rather than being on Mom’s family plan. Now we both have phones with local numbers, so if I haven’t already sent them to you, please let me know as my old cell phone will be disconnected soon.

We ended up getting a couple of Blackberry Curve 8330s which have more bells and whistles than we’ll probably use, but they are handy for keeping track of things, have internet access, and unlimited texting/IM. They have a 2mp camera along with video capability, they play mp3s, and a micro memory card that can be removed and downloaded on a pc (or we can just plug the phone into the USB port). It may not be an iPhone or LG Dare, but it’s alot more up-to-date than I’ve ever had in the past. :D

I celebrated Linda’s retirement with the golden girls last Friday at Dorothy’s house. It was fun, but sad that she’s going. Dorothy grilled up an amazing dinner of chicken with the most delicious pineapple salsa I’ve ever had. There were potatoes, grilled corn, a lovely baby greens salad with strawberries, and a Janet’s cake for dessert with Blue Bunny frozen yogurt. The yogurt tasted like homemade ice cream to me. I could’ve eaten a whole bowl full of it!

We played Apples to Apples afterwards - a game that we carry but I had never played. It’s a party game that requires at least 4 people, but is much more fun with 6 or 7. I liked it so much that I made Ken buy it for me. Next time we’re down at Mom and Dad’s we’ll have to try it out. It requires about 30 seconds to learn so it’s perfect to take to family gatherings.

A couple of Saturdays ago we went to Peoria with Pat and Susan and had a wonderful time at Sushi Popo. We all got sushi as well as some other dishes so we could try a bunch of different things. I got them hooked on it. ;) Since Pat works in Peoria, Susan has him bring home sushi for her. LOL It is much better than the sushi I’ve had here in town.

Ken and Susan always pick on and torment each other, much like he and Kaelyn do. Ken used his chopsticks to flick a wadded up straw wrapper at her but it ended up sailing way over her head and it hit the lady at the next table right in the forehead! I didn’t see the actual act, so the first thing I saw was him raising his hand and saying, “That was me.” and “I’m so sorry!” We were all cracking up, including the lady he hit and the two gals she was with! She said that she’s a first grade teacher so she thought a student had thrown something at her! ROFL!! Ken was very embarassed, and he had desperately hoped that she wouldn’t notice this paper in her hair! We were glad that she was such a good sport. :)

The boat was ok, and Ken ended up a little ahead while I was a little behind, but overall we didn’t lose much and had a good time. We stayed for a little over an hour and then drove back to Susan’s where we played Settlers of Catan and Euchre til after 1am. They have a new kitty named Taz that they adopted from her mom’s new hubby (her mom is allergic) and he was a total attention whore. :D He wouldn’t even let Lucy, one of their other cats, come near us. Guess he feels like he needs to establish his territory. He looks so much like Snowball that I kept calling him a “her” all night.

Guess that’s it for now. It’s past my bedtime, and my useless cat won’t catch this fly that has been driving us bonkers for two days. She just lays there and watches it. G’nite all!

Oregon Pics

Finally! Although after seeing some of Kerry’s tonight that I didn’t have on my puter, I wish I’d waited to include them. He has an incredible sunset photo that I have to get enlarged and framed. :)

These aren’t necessarily all in the correct order but I tried for the most part. Some of Mom’s and Kerry’s were added.

Berry Berry Good

Ah, to finally get a decent night of sleep. After two nights of barely any rest, I faced a third night of not being able to settle down. Nothing in particular is going on in my life to keep me awake…I think it’s more due to the weather. I decided I wasn’t going to let myself be up til 2am so I took something to put me out and slept like a baby. That is, til Ramses decided that since it gets light at 5, I should be awake and paying attention to him. I squashed that little kitty delusion quickly and fell back asleep.

After showering I made some cream cheese and ham wrapped pickles for our food day at work. They’re quite a PITA, but I think that was due to my ham being too thin. It was almost impossible to spread the cream cheese on it without ripping it. So hey, they weren’t the prettiest in the world, but they still tasted good. :D

Susan invited us to go with her and Pat to the riverboat this Sat. night so we’ll head over that way after the store closes. They have a nice buffet and Ken will enjoy playing the slots. I’ll probably lose a little at video poker and be done with it. I’m more of a table game person but that requires more money than I’m willing to spend right now.

Monday night we’re hosting game night at the store again for a bunch of our friends. The group keeps growing which means we either have to find a game that accomodates 6-10 or split into two groups. Ken and I learned a new game this week that he had seen demo’d in Las Vegas called Wizard’s Gambit. It was fun with two but I think it’ll be much more challenging with three or four.

Kerry came up yesterday and did some handyman work for us including putting a lock on our garage door and installing new halogen strip lights over the kitchen sink in place of the worthless fluorescent ones that were installed by the idiots who owned the house prior to us. I love love love the new lights! They’re so nice and bright, and I can easily work at the sink now in the evening. :) Thanks again, Kerry!

Tonight I used those lights to clean some strawberries I picked up while getting our veggies. There is a fruit CSA run by the farmer’s sister and she had extras for sale so I bought a couple of pints. They made for a delicious finish to the pork loin and steamed asparagus I fixed for supper.

Time for this nice, summer-ish night to end. G’nite!

Adjusting to summer

It’s nice to be home. :) Even though we’re about ready to buy a muzzle for Ramses, I’m happy to be home with my babies again.

I haven’t been doing much outside of work, certainly not enough for an interesting blog entry. I’m still working on photos but will have them up this week sometime. I went through the 300 I took and am now picking some out from Kerry and Mom’s to add. I would love to get a new camera with a much stronger zoom, stability control, and a focus that works better. Or perhaps the user of the camera needs to be more careful. ;)

Friday night I went to Wal Mart and got some essentials as well as browsed for a new purse. The one I got at World Market when it was going out of business is too big, and it’s already falling apart. I didn’t find what I wanted, so maybe I’ll bear with this until I get the one that Mom is having made for my birthday. Aunt Bev’s daughter sews the neatest purses and I’m going to have one made with kitty cat fabric (if I can find some at JoAnn’s).

It was so sticky and warm out that night that I couldn’t seem to get cool, even once I got inside. Saturday was much better so I walked around the farmers market and up to Kelly’s to get us some breakfast. Michelle made a jalapeño bacon cheddar grape tomato quiche that was fantastic! It had the perfect level of spice for me.

My friend Deb (the one from Farmington) drove over with her two kids to let them shop at the store so we got to chat while they browsed. The three of them went to Denny’s for lunch before heading back. I grabbed a couple of tacos from next door and went home for the rest of the afternoon.

I was in the mood for something different and nicer than a typical chain restaurant so I suggested we go to Biaggi’s for supper. They have by far the most unique menu in town, and I’ve never had bad food or bad service.

We started out with Shrimp & Sausage Rustica - Savory shrimp, roasted Italian sausage, white wine and Alfredo sauce served over garlic-butter grilled baguette. I, who never like seafood mixed in with anything else, loved it! We all but licked the bowl clean.

Ken chose the filet mignon as he was in a steak mood and I tried a new dish for me - braised short ribs (Boneless beef short ribs braised with vegetables, garlic, rosemary and red wine. Served with creamy risotto Milanese). I’ve seen them make it on Top Chef several times so I was curious as to how it would taste. It was more along the lines of a roast than a steak, and it fell apart like any good braised meat should. I liked it fine, but it probably won’t be something that calls to me. Plus the risotto was rather boring, although mixing it with the flavorful tomato sauce helped. Ken’s steak was as he asked - medium - so it was very much raw in the middle. Needless to say, I didn’t try it.

Ken wanted ice cream so we stopped by Coldstone on our way home and split a Love It apple pie. I ate a couple of bites but put mine in the freezer for later as I was stuffed from supper. It made a fantastic midnight snack. ;)

Today we haven’t even gone outside. I fixed some goat cheese stuffed sausage patties with stir fry for lunch and just soup and sammiches for supper. Tomorrow we’ll have to do the books since we didn’t get out this evening. I was happy not to - I’ve had cramps today and it’s just too darn hot to use the heating pad.

This week looks to be much milder and even cool enough to open the windows at night to let the fresh air in. It always seems like we go from running the furnace straight to the a/c although I know we had a nice stretch this year of not using either.

It’s time to head on up to bed and see if I can get a lower back rub from Ken using the massager. ;) G’nite!

Blue skies!

Saturday was a nice enough day weather-wise. It rained a bit in the morning, but for the most part it was pleasant and mostly cloudy. Ken, Sarah and I did some exploring on the beach in the morning, and Ken saw a seal pop its head up through the surf a few times! By the time I got out to him, though, it was gone.

The girls did more shopping in Lincoln City in the early afternoon to finish up with souvenirs. Afterwards we all went down to the beach, including Mom whom we helped down the rocks and brought a lawn chair for her to sit in whenever she got tired. It was a gorgeous evening. Kerry had gone into Portland early to pick up Katherine who flew in from Winnipeg and they got back to the house while we were out playing in the surf.

The power had gone off right before we got back from Lincoln City but thankfully it came back on not long after Kerry and Katherine got there. It was a widespread outage but we never did figure out what the problem was. K&K had stopped on the way back from Portland to pick up groceries as Katherine wanted to cook supper for us. She made a yummy creamy chicken pasta dish with veggies along with delicious bread that I could’ve eaten all night long. We had a good time playing dominoes and other games that evening, one of which I actually won.

Sunday was the perfect day - low 60s, few clouds, light breezes, and a sea more calm than we had seen since our arrival. Mom and Dad were packing up to go to Portland to see Aunt Bev, but I’m glad they were there in the morning to enjoy the sunshine. We lounged around in the morning, reading mostly, and watching the ocean. Sarah had to leave around 3pm to get back home to her family. It was sooo nice to see her again! She hasn’t changed a bit, for which I am envious. ;) I am looking forward to going out to see her and the rest of her family. :)

We grilled out steaks and chops that evening and Katherine made us a tasty stir fry with the veggies we had laying around still. She used celery, onion, red pepper, and pineapple, and she added a touch of red chili flakes to it that gave it an excellent flavor.

Ken and I spent more time in the hot tub (boy am I going to miss that!!) and since it wasn’t windy or cold out, the water actually stayed the right temp. Later that night, the stars were clear as a bell, and since we weren’t near any big cities, I could see tons more than I can anywhere around here. I tried to wake Ken up to show him, but he was dead to the world by then.

Monday was a lounge and pack day. It rained and rained, and the wind coming off the ocean was fierce. :( No beach time for us. The five of us went out for breakfast to Hilltop Inn in Lincoln City. They had most excellent waffles and french toast. I could go for some right now as all this food talk is making me hungry! lol

I mostly read in front of the windows and watched Hogan’s Heroes that day. Lunch was leftover steaks but for supper we ordered another pizza from the little place in Neskowin. It wasn’t quite as good because they didn’t cook it long enough but Ken liked it that way. He also brought home crème brulée, though I could only eat a few bites of it after pizza and saved the rest for morning. The rain cleared out long enough to give us a pretty sunset, but it was so windy and cold still that I didn’t want to go out in the surf.

We were almost all packed up the night before so Tuesday morning was spent cleaning up the place. The ocean was all churned up with the high winds and rain we got overnight. It was still raining, so no final walk on the beach. :( We left the house around 8:15 so that we would have time to stop by Aunt Bev’s, plus drive north over the bridge into Washington so we could say we’ve been there. We had lunch at Del Taco in Vancouver before heading back down to the airport.

The lines for security were quite long, and I swear they don’t have a/c in that airport. There was no air movement at all and the ceilings were low til we got out to the gate area. I was glad to get through and find our gate where everyone else was already waiting. We saw baby after baby and lots of little toddlers get on the plane so we were ready for a jet full of screaming brats to endure for the next four hours. Oddly enough, we barely heard a peep out of any of them except for one little boy near the end who was excited about landing. I was just glad to get off the plane and get some circulation back into my legs.

Mom’s chariot was waiting for her and we just had to go to the other end of the same concourse, so it wasn’t as long a trip as it could’ve been. We sat for perhaps a half hour before they started loading the plane, then we sat on the plane with the door open for some reason. About the time we were all questioning the delay, some goomer with a take-out container rushes on the plane and is told to take his seat NOW. Evidently his dinner was more important than watching the time and getting on his flight. Shoulda left his sorry butt behind IMO.

The flight to Champaign is short….by the time cruising altitude is reached, they start the descent. :D Our bags were promptly deposited in the claim area and we were out the door and on our way. We were all very tired and anxious to get home. But the good thing is we were all still talking and had a fantastic trip together. :)

When we got home, Cleo came out to greet us meowing her head off as to say, “Where the HELL have you two been? I’ve been worried sick here waiting and waiting and you never came back…!” Poor thing. She sure told me! She was a little skittish at first as was Ramses, but soon they were all over us demanding attention. I had taken the next day off so I was able to lavish them with love. Didn’t seem to matter with Ramses - he meowed all evening and all night that he wasn’t sitting on my feet or fighting on the bed with Cleo. Silly babies. They’ve both lost a little weight. Now Cleo is in her proper place on the back of my chair. :)

I know I’ve missed details so I’ll have to add those in to future blogs as I think of them. :) G’nite, and it’s good to be home, except for this nasty hot weather.

Rain Rain Go Away

It has rained for the last two days. Not unexpected, but still annoying. We had bouts of rain the whole trip up and back from Cannon Beach but there were a few respites. It’s a beautiful little seaside tourist town with lots of quaint shops and flowers everywhere! The flowers out here are unreal - types we grow back home grow five times as large here. We had a nice seafood lunch overlooking Haystack Rock, then walked up and down the main drag to various touristy places. We stopped in a glass store that made me really wish I had lots of money. After shopping, we had dessert in a small cafe, then headed home. We stopped at the Tillamook Cheese Factory to get some yummies for the rest of the week. They also make killer ice creams and such.

We took a scenic drive that started south of Tillamook and came out not too far north of Neskowin. It wound around the actual coast and had lots of gorgeous lookout stops. Everything was shrouded in mist, of course, but it was still breathtaking! We passed bay after bay which I didn’t know existed along Oregon. We even passed a lake of sand! I’ll be posting pics at some point.

We were all ready to get back to the house and relax. Leftovers were on the menu so no one had to cook anything. Kerry and I played two games of pool and split, so we still need to finish that third and final. ;) There was more hottubbing that night, but oy was it cold!! When we got home, it was calm, if rainy, but as soon as we stepped outside in our swimsuits, the wind picked up like you wouldn’t believe! It had to have been blowing off the ocean at least 30mph with gusts even higher! Ken and I huddled down in the hot tub, warm and toasty underneath but with numb ears and faces! After a little bit the temp in the tub started to drop and we couldn’t get it to go above 94. We had been keeping it at 100 so that was a bit chilly. Getting out was fun! LOL

Today it has rained nonstop, and the windstorm we had overnight has made the sea roil and roll furiously! The whitecaps are high and go way far back. It is an angry surf out there today. The high tide came up VERY high overnight and even behind these thick windows it was some kinda loud! That’s the highest we’ve seen it come up on the beach so far.

It seemed like a good day to go in to Lincoln City to shop. We went to several gift shops, bought t-shirts and jewelry, used books, and candy. :) Mom overdid it, and I hated to see her hurting so much. :neutral : That night, Ken went to Albany to play in the nearest Friday Night Magic tournament. He didn’t get back til around 12:30am. My bestest college friend and ex-roomie, Sarah, drove down from Portland to spend the weekend!!! We grilled out dogs and burgers, I made an apple pear salad, and we had a fine supper. Later, Sarah, Kerry and I lounged in the hot tub, then they went downstairs to roast themselves in the sauna to warm up. As hot as they got it in there, it’s a wonder they didn’t keel over.

The fireplace has been wonderful to drive out the dampness and to warm up the main room in the mornings. Dad’s a great firestarter. We’re going to have to train someone else to do it when they’re in Portland. They are driving up Sunday to spend a couple of days with Aunt Bev. I wish they could stay here to enjoy the house, but I understand. :(

Now it’s late, the house is pretty much asleep, and I’m ready to turn in as well. The bed in our room is plenty comfy with a thick pillowtop and a stellar view of the ocean. G’nite!

Surf’s up!

What can I say? This place is beyond gorgeous, and I want to move here! Unfortunately, I could never afford a house like this, inland or oceanfront. Where are those lottery tickets again?

Our flights were only slightly delayed last Tuesday due to small weather issues at O’Hare, so we weren’t too late arriving in Portland. We all three were getting cars, and they were from three different companies, but luckily their counters were all side-by-side and the cars in the same garage behind it.

The drive to Neskowin didn’t look too far on the map, but we had to travel through suburb after suburb and then several small towns so all of the stop lights and reduced speed limits made for a 2-hour trip. We went through the mountains before arriving at Highway 101 which was beautiful, even in the rain and clouds.

We pulled in at the house just a few minutes after 5pm and got settled in. It’s a very pretty place with lots of room, big windows facing the ocean, and wooden beams and skylights overhead. Once I even saw a bald eagle fly over the skylight!

That evening was cloudy but Wednesday was beautiful from start to end. I had gone to bed early and then was up at 4am. We had ordered pizza from the only cafe in town the night before which ended up being some of the best pizza I’ve ever had anywhere and it was just as good the next day. :D Dad got up not much later and we watched the sky start to lighten up. Our internet wasn’t working the first night until Ken rebooted everything so I was getting my online fix. ;) I went back to bed about 5:30 and slept til 8.

Ken and I got dressed and went down to the beach to explore. It was sunny and gorgeous out! I had hoped that weather would last, but we haven’t been so lucky. We found lots of interesting rocks and several old tree stumps that are now covered in barnacles, snails, etc.

In front of Proposal Rock runs a river, as odd as that sounds, that comes down to the north of the house from the mountains. It has quite the current for being so close to the ocean and I had some trepidation about crossing, but Ken made it fine. One just can’t stop in the middle or the sand would shift right out from underneath. The water was, of course, freezing, but the sun was warm.

After climbing back up to the house, we got showered and ready to head out for a little bit. We first went up to the property rental place to pay the final payment for the house, then drove about 15 miles south to Lincoln City for brunch and groceries. We bought tons of stuff including steaks, chops, burgers and dogs for grilling.

I’m enjoying this kitchen, even with an electric stove, because there is so much counter space. Plus it just seems more fun to cook for lots of people in someone else’s kitchen. :D I browned, then boiled a chuck roast and made a big pot of beef veggie soup that we ate on for three days.

Wed. night was a perfect hot tub moment as Ken and I watched the sunset while having all the travel fatigue and muscle pain massaged away by the jets. Later I played a couple games of pool with Dad and almost beat him the second time. I was still tired so I went to bed fairly early again.

Today we’re getting ready to head north to Cannon Beach which is around 85 miles north. That would be just over an hour il IL but more like two here. We’ll be finding a good seafood restaurant for lunch and exploring the town. I hope the rain lets up. I can deal with clouds - and I doubt they’re going away - but I hate walking in the rain.

I’d better finish getting ready - more later. :)

One week and counting

Greetings! It is the end of a nice, long holiday weekend. The holiday that ends the drought of no holidays from Jan 1 to now. It didn’t seem so bad for me this year, though, because I had saved some PV and PT, plus we had our Las Vegas trip just a month ago.

Oregon will soon be upon us! I feel so disorganized….I hope I can get it together and have everything I need ready. Even though we’ve done quite a bit of cleaning and reorganizing around here, I still can’t find everything I’ve been looking for. It seems like the older I get, the more blond I get.

I’ve had a fun and relaxing time the past few days. Friday I took a half day off and finished cleaning and cooking for a get-together I had here that night. My friends Deb, Chandra, and Bobbi came over for a little pot luck and game night. We sat around and gabbed while we ate, then I taught them how to play Wizard. Poor Deb never got ahead, but the other three of us passed the lead back and forth to the very end when Chandra pulled out the win. I had a pretty good last hand, but I’ll be darned if every time I played a card I thought should win, Bobbi played the ace of that suit!

They stayed around til about midnight, and I crashed not long afterwards. It seemed the next day that I just couldn’t wake up, but I had things to do. I went to the hospital for bloodwork, then stopped by Kelly’s on the way home for breakfast. That afternoon I got my hair permed. The rest of the night I mostly had my butt sitting in front of my puter. ;)

We had thought about going to Arthur on Sunday, but decided against it in order to do some work around here and just to take it easy. We got a last-minute invite to a lunch cookout at Tony and Ginger’s so we drove over there at noon and watched the Indy 500 while eating hot dogs, brats, and gourmet burgers. Tony is quite the grillmaster. :)

Ken had to do some stuff at work today and get pop for the store, but I stayed in. I should’ve planted fleurs, but I wasn’t in the mood to even go outside. I know - pathetic. :???: The rest of the week is going to be quite busy, though, so I figured I’d better get some WoWing in while I could. ;) That’s my excuse and I’m stickin’ to it. Yup.

It’s warm in here tonight, but I have resisted turning on the a/c because the temps are supposed to drop tomorrow. I don’t want to open the windows because it’s so humid out and I’m preserving what dryness still lingers in here. Running the washer and dishwasher hasn’t exactly helped with that. ;) Oh well. It’s just strange having our first “hot” day at the very end of May.

I’d better get to reading my book for the book club this week while I finish up the laundry and clean the counters off. Claudia will be here tomorrow morning, but it isn’t too bad since we had things cleaned up on Friday. Have a stupendous week!!
