We are Ken and Kristi and we're from the great cornfields of Illinois. :)
We grew up in very different environments - he in the burbs of Chicago and Indianapolis and I in a very small town by Decatur. I attended Illinois Wesleyan University, and he went to Wheaton College. If you want to know how we found each other, check out our internet love story. We've been married for over 10 wonderful years now and looking forward to many, many more. For the first few years, our anniversary seemed to be cursed. I was sick or down for the count for three of our first seven anniversaries, and Ken for one. Our first anniversary I got horrible food poisoning from our dinner out. On the fifth I had recently been through surgery and was in lots of pain. In 2004 I went all week on vacation doing just fine, and in the wee hours of the morning of our anniversary, I got sick with some kind of stomach ailment and couldn't leave the room all day. In 2005, Ken got the flu (which I then got two days later). Needless to say, I'm not planning anything on our anniversary anymore. ;)
Currently we both work at the same company in town. It's nice to be able to ride together and see each other during the day. In 2000 we bought our first house, and soon afterwards adopted two kittens from the Humane Society. You can read more about them and see pictures under the Kitties section. It's very nice not to have to put up with apartment living, and most of our obnoxious neighbors have either moved out, calmed down, or gone to jail. ;)
We're both computer geeks and enjoy online gaming, particularly World of Warcraft. Our evenings used to be spent here side-by-side on our puters, but now we own our own game store in downtown, so Ken is busy with that most of the time. I also like to blog, chat with friends, cook, and read.
Travelling is a passion for both of us. Unfortunately the commitment of owning our store and limited vacation days from our "real" job do not allow us to go to all the places we'd like. Despite that, we have managed to get to Vegas twice in the past two years and we spent a week on the coast in Oregon with my family in a fabulous rented house. The memories of that vacation will always be very dear to me. In December we will be going to Disney World with Ken's family and I can't wait! It has been almost 10 years since I was there last, and this time it should be much more pleasant to walk around temperature-wise.
